- What’s the deal with Menavrus and Menaco?
In 2013, a brilliant developer from Belarus succeeded in installing add-on software on the MediaNAV. He enabled the Rear View Camera, installed Total Commander, a video player, 7ways and Navitel navigation. The software was called Menavrus. Two months later, a Dutch web building company had contact with the developer and a deal was made that they would put up a website to sell licenses to this software and offer it to the world. The site was called “menavrus.com”. Mid July 2014, NNG suggested that some 3rd party code was present in the software and on the Menavrus forums, people started sharing dubious links to software. The team decided to shut down immediately.
In the following months (July 2014 – July 2015), a totally new version was built and called Menaco to sound more international. This version does not contain any 3rd party code and was improved considerably, with many bugfixes and based on the newest firmware from Renault and Dacia MediaNAV. The developer and web builder approached NNG to let them know that the 3rd party code was removed and received the acknowledgement from the lawyers of NNG and NNG themselves that as long as the software was kept clean and the site does not contain dubious contant, they were good to go!
Together, the Dutch and Belarus party opened the new website mena.co and offer several products, including Menaco. As the licensing system operates on the same codebase, licenses from all (previous) versions do work on the new software. The promise of “always free upgrades” is thus kept since the beginning and will continue in the future!
- What is Medi@skin and Medi@rad?
These are versions created by French speaking Algerians, who have succeeded in installing a skin addon. The software alters the installation of MediaNAV to show new applications. The versions are known to be illegal and with no support and contain several known bugs.
WARNING: We have had several users with BRICKED devices that used one of these illegal versions. We strongly disadvise in using it. If you have bricked your device with this, we can try to help out, but our support for this is very limited.
Read more about it here:
https://mena.co/menaco-vs-mediaskin-mediarad/
- What are the other Menaco sites like Menaco.by and Navi-Soft.com?
These are legal sites operating for different regions. Menaco.by is focused on Belarus customers and assists in installing Menaco and incorporating Rear View Cameras. Navi-Soft is strictly for the Turkish market and provides local services. Mena.co is the only official reseller of Menaco licenses for ‘the rest of the world’.
- How do I know that my language is supported correctly?
Menaco is actually add on firmware. This means that it’s a layer upon your original MediaNAV system and all your settings/languages remain the same. Menaco menu itself is very visual and contains icons for video player, 7ways, Bubble and Total Commander, like this.
- If I play a video with bigger size, player reports an error and creates crash.txt
The settings file is corrupt. Delete the video, then use Total Commander to delete the contents of Storage Card/CorePlayer directory. Then start the player, click ‘Cancel’ when asked for registration code and start the player once again. The settings will be reset.
- Can I roll back to original firmware?
Yes you can. Just update your firmware using official toolbox or download here: https://goo.gl/QSd7xc and the MediaNAV will be 100% as new!
- I see some of Russian letters, will this work for my language?
During update and jailbreak you can see some Russian texts, but you won’t see them when using the software. Everything will be in the language that you set up in the first place!
- I’ve installed new maps, but now get message ‘File corruption detected, Navigation stops.’
You’ve probably deleted or replaced an important file. Thankfully it’s easy to fix. Head over to our forum for more info!
- I’ve installed Menaco/New Maps, and now my ‘Agree’ button stays gray!
Have you already received and placed the ‘menaco.lic’ file in menaco directory? If not; you’ve probably deleted or replaced an important file. Thankfully it’s easy to fix. Head over to our forum for more info!
- I have a video with AC3 audio, but I don’t hear anything
AC3 is not supported by MediaNAV, but you can convert the sound using XmediaRecode. Download the file here: XmediaRecode.zipXmediaRecode.zip. Use settings below:

- How about the guarantee?
Menaco is actually a very light ‘app’ that you install on your MediaNAV, so there is little that can go wrong. Nevertheless, we must pertain that Menaco is delivered ‘as is’, any consequences or bricks are at your own risk. Of course if Menaco is not compatible or does not work for you, you are elligible for a full refund.
- How about upgrades?
Upgrades are free. If you purchase Menaco, you’ll always receive the new version. Check out what’s planned in next versions here: https://mena.co/forum
- I would like to read the manual beforehand
Check out our installation section and User Guide section
- I’m from Belarus, I would like to buy Menaco
Contact us directly and we will set up a personal meeting!
- Can I use my own maps in nm2 format?
Yes you can! Read the manual for more info.
- I don’t need any add-ons, I just want new maps
You can do just that. Purchase Menaco, load your new maps and disable Menaco. You’re set to go!
- Where can I download new maps for MediaNAV?
You can buy them here: https://renault.naviextras.com/shop/portal
- After I installed Menaco 4.0.5, I get the clock after starting the car
This probably has to do with the installation of a rear-view camera. You can use the button “Dark” in main menu to disable it.
- My joystick (steering column controls) doesn’t work properly.
Some people report their joysticks not working properly after update. There is a way to fix this, but you need to follow the steps EXACTLY or you can BRICK the device. We are not responsible for any consequences of this adjustment:
- Turn on the engine, wait until system fully loads
- Press power button once. MediaNAV turns off the sound
- Press + and then – shortly on the device itself
- Insert any USB stick, preferably empty
- We have entered the test menu
DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE, FOLLOW THE NEXT STEPS!
- Choose “Micom test”
- The fifth row from the top contains “SWRC1” and “SWRC2”.
If you have a ROUND joystick, choose SWRC1, NEW, SQUARE joystick, press SWRC2. - Press Power button twice and return to usual interface
- Turn off the engine, switch key to 0 (OFF). Wait for 15 seconds.
- Turn on MediaNAV, be happy that the joystick now works!
- Japanese media navigation systems are the best!!!
Please don’t troll us, we won’t fall for it
- How do I access advanced audio/EQ menu?
- Turn on the engine, wait until system fully loads
- Press power button once. MediaNAV turns off the sound
- Press + and then – shortly on the device itself
- Insert any USB stick, preferably empty
- We have entered the test menu
DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE, FOLLOW THE NEXT STEPS!
- Choose “Audio Test”
Here you can adjust advanced audio settings. We have not yet fully mapped all functionalities, but there is not much that can go wrong in this specific system, so try it out!
- How do I adjust guidelines for my Rear-View Camera?
You can adjust Cam guidelines in the Micom menu, but be VERY VERY CAREFUL. Here is how to do it:
- Turn on the engine, wait until system fully loads
- Press power button once. MediaNAV turns off the sound
- Press + and then – shortly on the device itself
- Insert any USB stick, preferably empty
- We have entered the test menu
Here you will see three options: X87, B98 and K98.
- Try out which one suits your camera by clicking and checking which one is best
- Exit the menu, don’t click anything else 😉
- Shut off ignition
- Wait for 15 seconds
- Restart
You should now see the new guidelines!
- I don’t need a rear-view camera, I have truck licenses, I want MediaNAV to get me beer
We’re really glad to hear that MediaNAV is inside your car/train. And we appreciate your professionalism, but still, many users just wanted the rear-view cam.
