Installation Manual

WARNING:
Installing Menaco beta is at your own risk. In case you don’t know what you are doing you can brick your system. Use Total Commander with care, as it has full access to the system!

Installing for Renault / Dacia MediaNAV

First install original 4.0.6+ (4.10) firmware (link below). This is necessary for Menaco to work!

During install you may need the 4 digit code of your device. You can find this in the manual for MediaNAV or your garage. We also offer an automatic online code calculator:

The installation consists of 5 main steps:

  1. Install official Renault/Dacia firmware
  2. Download Menaco files and extract to USB drive
  3. Upgrade to Menaco from USB drive
  4. Generate unique license file
  5. Activate and start Menaco

1. Install official firmware

Install original 4.0.6+ (4.10) firmware through Renault/Dacia Toolbox or manually.
If you don’t have access to the original firmware, you can use this download link: https://goo.gl/QSd7xc

a) Extract the contents of the file to a USB flash, formatted FAT32 and with at least 4GB space.

b) Insert the USB flash into MediaNAV

c) Press power button on MediaNAV and wait while loading is complete

d) You will see the firmware upgrade message.

e) Press ‘Upgrade’ button on screen

f) Wait until the update is complete.

WARNING: The update consists of 3 parts – update 1, reboot, update 2. If after update 1 MediaNAV has not restarted automatically, press the power button.

g) You will be asked to upgrade again, but you can ignore this. Remove USB flash from MediaNAV

h) Delete ‘upgrade.lgu’ from USB flash drive
Else you will receive upgrade message all the time!

2. Download and unpack Menaco

WARNING: Install Menaco 4.0.1.3 ONLY at a device upgraded to ORIGINAL version 4.0.6 and up (current: 4.10)! (Step 1)

WARNING: Your USB stick must be empty, contain at least 4GB space and be formatted FAT32 from Windows

a) Download menaco.zip using the link in your welcome e-mail. Extract ‘menaco.zip’ to root of USB flash drive. This should be the contents of your USB drive:

WARNING: The file menavrus.did is not provided in the downloads, it is generated in Step 4.

b) Users from Argentina must use Navi folder from ‘Navitel503.rar’ archive to ensure properly functioning nm2 maps!

c) Insert USB flash drive into MediaNAV

3. Upgrade to Menaco from USB drive

a) Put key inside your car and start the engine.

b) MediaNAV will power on and you will now be asked to upgrade to version 4.1.0.3_Mena.co

c) Press the ‘Upgrade’ button on the screen

d) Wait until update is complete

WARNING: The update consists of 3 parts – update 1, reboot, update 2. If after update 1 MediaNAV has not restarted automatically, press the power button.

e) After install is complete, you will see firmware upgrade message again. You can press the home button on the screen to discard and ignore.

WARNING: Your device version will show version 4.1.0.3 and keep asking for update. Follow next steps to prevent this.

f) Remove USB flash drive from MediaNAV and put it in your PC

g) Delete ‘upgrade.lgu’ from USB flash drive from your PC (else you will receive upgrade message all the time!)

4. Generate unique license file

a) In the ‘menavrus’ folder on the USB flash drive, you will find a file called ‘menavrus.did’. This is your unique registration file.

b) Upload your ‘menavrus.did’ file to license-upload to complete registration and receive your license. The username and password are provided in your welcome mail from WordPress. If you don’t know your username or password, you can request a new one here: Request new password

c) Your license file is generated and available for download immediately after uploading your menavrus.did file. Put this ‘menavrus.lic’ in the menavrus directory next to menavrus.did.

5. Activate and start Menaco

a) Put the USB drive with ‘menavrus.lic’ inside your MediaNAV and power on your device.

b) Tap “Settings > System”. Above you will see five logos. Click the left logo to go to Menaco.

c) Your system will now restart and go to Menaco mode.

d) After system has restarted, click “MAPS” or “NAVI” to see Menaco Menu.

Installing for Renault / Dacia MediaNAV Evolution

First install original minimum version 6.0.3 firmware (link below). This is necessary for Menaco to work! If you already have 6.0.3 or higher version, SKIP THIS STEP.

During install you may need the 4 digit code of your device. You can find this in the manual for MediaNAV or your garage. We also offer an automatic online code calculator:

The installation consists of 5 main steps:

  1. Install official Renault/Dacia firmware
  2. Download Menaco files and extract to USB drive
  3. Upgrade to Menaco from USB drive
  4. Generate unique license file
  5. Activate and start Menaco

1. Install official firmware

Install original minimum version 6.0.3 firmware through Renault/Dacia Toolbox or manually. If you already have 6.0.3 or higher version, SKIP THIS STEP.

a) Extract the contents of the file to a USB flash, formatted FAT32 and with at least 4GB space.

g) You will be asked to upgrade again, but you can ignore this. Remove USB flash from MediaNAV

2. Download and unpack Menaco

WARNING: Install Menaco 9.1.3.3 ONLY at a device upgraded to AT LEAST 6.0.3 version! (Step 1)

WARNING: Your USB stick must be empty, contain at least 4GB space and be formatted FAT32 from Windows

a) Download menaco.zip using the link in your welcome e-mail. Extract ‘menaco.zip’ to root of USB flash drive. This should be the contents of your USB drive:

b) MediaNAV will power on and you will now be asked to upgrade to version 9.1.3.3 Menaco

d) Wait until update is complete

WARNING: The update consists of 3 parts – update 1, reboot, update 2. If after update 1 MediaNAV has not restarted automatically, press the power button.

5. Activate and start Menaco

a) Put the USB drive with ‘menavrus.lic’ inside your MediaNAV and power on your device.

Installing for KIA / Hyundai 2010-2015

First make sure you have at least 7.4.5 or 7.5.8 firmware installed (link below). This is necessary for Menaco to work!

During install you may need the 4 digit code of your device. You can find this in the manual or your garage. We also offer an automatic online code calculator:

The installation consists of 5 main steps:

  1. Install official Kia/Hyundai firmware
  2. Download Menaco files and extract to USB drive
  3. Upgrade to Menaco from USB drive
  4. Generate unique license file
  5. Activate and start Menaco

1. Install official firmware

Check which version is installed. How to check:

  1. Turn on the navigation system
  2. Wait until system is fully loaded
  3. Press and hold for 10 seconds the button with gear-key on homepage
    NOTE: If your car is from 2010/2011, the button will say “Setup”
  4. You will see a window with the version of your firmware. It must be 7.4.5, 7.5.8 or higher.

WARNING: If the version is lower than 7.4.5 or 7.5.8, upgrade to 7.4.5. If the version is lower than 5.1.3, first you must install 5.1.3

a) Extract the contents of the file to a USB flash, formatted FAT32 and with at least 8GB space.

b) Start the engine, turn on the Navigation system and put in the USB key next to the gear handle.

c) The upgrade will now take place and notify you when finished.

2. Download and unpack Menaco

WARNING: Install Menaco 3.0.0 (2.3.4 for 8900) ONLY at a device upgraded to at least ORIGINAL 7.4.5 or 7.5.8 version! (Step 1)

WARNING: Your USB stick must be empty, contain at least 8GB space and be formatted FAT32 from Windows

Download menaco_kia.zip or menaco_hyundai.zip using the link in your welcome e-mail. Extract ‘menaco_xxx.zip’ to root of USB flash drive. This should be the contents of your USB drive:

WARNING: The file menavrus.did is not provided in the downloads, it is generated in Step 4.

3. Upgrade to Menaco from USB drive

a) Start the engine, turn on the Navigation system and put in the USB key next to the gear handle.

b) If everything is done correctly, you will see on your screen the installer for Menaco/Menavrus. Wait until installation is finished and you see “INSTALL SUCCESS”.

WARNING: The system will restart automatically. If installation gives an error, turn off car/ignition for 15 minutes, remove USB Flash and after that turn on ignition. After that send us the content of menavrus-install.log on your USB drive to kh@mena.co

4. Generate unique license file

a) In the ‘menavrus’ folder on the USB flash drive, you will find a file called ‘menavrus.did’. This is your unique registration file.

5. Activate and start Menaco

a) Put the USB drive with ‘menavrus.lic’ inside your MediaNAV and power on your device.

WARNING: The device AND engine must have been switched off for at least 15 minutes before doing this.

b) Tap “MAP” button on your device. You should now see a menu called “Menavrus” with buttons for other programs.

Installing for KIA / Hyundai 2015-2017

WARNING:
This firmware add-on can only be used on all media-navigation devices of Kia and Hyundai from years 2015-2017 based on LG 40xx and 50xx. Only European models of Kia and Hyundai are supported. If your car is from USA or South-Korea, this firmware will not work!

WARNING:
Engine must be running, gear should be in neutral and the car must not be driven (stationary). All other actions may cause an interruption of the update process and kill your radio system.

First make sure that you already have at least original version 10.001 – 10.183, 20.001 – 20.112 firmware. This is necessary for Menaco to work!

The installation consists of 5 main steps:

  1. Check current version of Kia/Hyundai firmware
  2. Download Menaco files and extract to SD Card
  3. Upgrade to Menaco from SD Card
  4. Generate unique license file
  5. Activate and start Menaco

1. Check current version of Kia/Hyundai firmware

Check which version is installed. How to check:

  1. Turn on the navigation system
  2. Wait until system is fully loaded
  3. Press and hold for 10 seconds the button with gear-key on homepage
  4. You will see a window with the version of your firmware. It must be 20.xxx

2. Download Menaco files and extract to SD Card

WARNING: Install Menaco 01.00 ONLY at a device with 20.xxx version! (Step 1)

WARNING: Your SD Card must be empty, contain at least 4GB space and be formatted FAT32 from Windows (not from Mac or Linux)

Download the [Mena.co][version].zip file using the link in your welcome e-mail. Extract the ‘[Mena.co][version].zip’ to root of SD Card. This should be the contents of your SD Card:

3. Upgrade to Menaco from SD Card

a) Start the engine, turn on the Navigation system and put SD Card inside the SD Card slot (SDMAP). The system will restart automatically.

b) If everything is done correctly, you will see on your screen the installer for Menaco. Wait until installation is finished and you see “INSTALL SUCCESS”.

WARNING: The system will restart automatically. If installation gives an error, turn off car/ignition for 5 minutes, remove SD Card and after that turn on ignition. After that send us the content of menavrus-install.log on your SD Card to kh@mena.co

5. Activate and start Menaco

a) Put the SD Card with ‘menavrus.lic’ inside your navigation system and power on your device/ignition.

WARNING: The device AND engine must have been switched off for at least 15 minutes before doing this.

b) Tap “MAP” button on your device. You should now see a menu called “Menaco” with buttons for other programs.

c) To check if Menaco was successfully installed, press the middle of the right round button (second one from the drivers view with the ⅈ symbol). You should see the Menaco menu with buttons for additional applications. You can also press the ‘setup’ gear/icon 5 times to start the original firmware.
